Start here. Grow here. As part of our wider collaboration and growth initiatives, we are currently seeking to appoint an individual in the role of Highways Regional Director. Reporting directly to the Highways Scotland and England North District Lead and working closely with the Highways Regional Directors and Infrastructure Team Lead, the role will focus on the pipeline of major projects, position us to win and expand the teams’ delivery portfolio. AECOM has identified significant opportunities for growth in the highways market in Scotland and the north of England and we are positioning ourselves for these. The role may evolve however you will lead and manage the pursuit and delivery of projects within the Highways teams’ skillset in Scotland and the North of England. There will be a specific focus on client-centricity, identifying opportunities, positioning us and managing pipeline. You will also help with setting up our highways projects for success and initially overseeing the delivery of these projects. You will be required to understand the market trends, anticipate our clients needs and deliver the right solutions.
About You
Drawing on your highways/civil infrastructure design and project delivery experience you will have a recognised presence in the market, a desire to grow the team and pursue the priority opportunities in the highways industry, in this region and beyond. Your knowledge and experience of major highways projects and programmes will be important. You will have existing client relationships and experience in these markets and be able to bring the benefit of this to identify, position and win new work. You will be able to provide inspirational leadership and create an inclusive environment across a range of disciplines, having led delivery on major projects.
Key Responsibilities
- The Highways Regional Director will be accountable for overseeing the pipeline of new work opportunities and setting the Highways team up for success.
- Identify, Position, Plan and Prioritise business development activities in the region.
- Work in a manner that fully reflects the market growth potential and position AECOM as a prime consultant in region by market share and reputation.
- Identify key clients and key pursuits.
- Prepare key client management plans and key pursuit plans, maintaining a strong and achievable pipeline of opportunities.
- Understand market trends and anticipate client needs and position AECOM as best solution provider.
- Develop and maintain existing client relationships looking to build trusted advisor status across key clients.
- Encourage and support a client-centric approach across the team.
- Support the Highways team performance and growth targets including: Book to Burn, Sources of Revenue/Pipeline, Net Service Revenue growth.
- Lead major pursuit proposals with National Authorities including Transport Scotland and National Highways, and construction contractor partners.
- Leverage the wider AECOM network and other business lines to enhance capability and work winning strategies.
- Set projects up for success and help project teams in the delivery of newly-won projects.

Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for: The following experience is necessary as the minimum requirements for the role of a Highways Regional Director.
- A track record of achieving and exceeding financial KPIs and driving business growth.
- A track record of winning work and exceeding business growth targets.
- Experience of developing and maintaining client relationships and work backlog with new and existing clients.
- Experience with clients in the region – both National infrastructure clients (Transport Scotland and National Highways), local authorities and construction contractors.
- Experience of maximising existing contracts, winning new business and optimising client account management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership of a recognised professional body in an appropriate discipline.
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate discipline.
