AECOM provides a full range of tunnelling and underground structure design and management services serving clients in both the public and private sectors. We provide one-stop access to services ranging across project and construction management, feasibility studies, concept, basic and detailed design, and risk management for all types of tunnelling and underground works.
We’re looking for a Principal Tunnelling Engineer to work on Major Civils projects of a tunnelling nature at all levels to join our teams across the UK. With an exciting and growing project portfolio, there is no better time to join us!
What can we offer? You’ll have the opportunity to work on some of the most rewarding Civil Infrastructure/ Tunnelling projects across both the UK and abroad such as:
- Snowdonia Cable Tunnel
- London Power Tunnels
- Pumped Storage schemes for Electrical Power Generation
- Major Road tunnels
Although advertised as a full time role, part time options will also be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver: Act as a Design Lead for elements of a project, liaising directly with clients and the wider design team for the day to day design development but being guided by a Technical Lead / mentor
- Provide Expertise: Manage more junior engineers in the design of infrastructure elements
Qualifications:
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- You will ideally be educated to degree level in Civil or Civil & Structural Engineering, and/or have MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics/ Geotechnical/ Tunnelling Engineering, with/working towards a professional membership.
- You will have broad experience as a designer in Reinforced Concrete to Eurocodes in relation to underground structures such as secant piles, capping beams, segmental shaft linings, in situ concrete structural elements, D-Walls, shafts and tunnels.
- A Civil or Structural Engineer with good familiarity of Geotechnical Engineering principles as they apply to soil-structure interaction.
