Our Streets Team has a vacancy in our Glasgow office for a Principal Engineer with relevant experience in leading the delivery of traffic and highway engineering projects and in work‐winning activities. The successful candidate will share our ethos of developing impactful design solutions and delivering high levels of service to assist with the growth of our Scotland Streets business by enhancing existing and developing new client relationships.
The role suits a self‐motivated individual looking to advance their career. In addition to delivering work within the local office, the role will involve working closely with other AECOM teams across the wider UK & Ireland business, with opportunities for international work.
Key Responsibilities- Client relationship building – develop sound client relationships, identify commercial and emerging opportunities, and develop strategies to exploit them.
- Work winning – prepare detailed proposals, client briefs, and fee proposals, and contribute to or lead bids. Work with colleagues to deliver marketing and business development objectives locally and nationally.
- Project leadership – act as a Project Director and Project Manager after accreditation on AECOM's project management system, monitoring financial performance and key performance indicators.
- Technical leadership – ensure technical content and quality of output align with the project brief.
- Team management – be a proactive line manager, supporting career progression of line reports, training, and ensuring the team stays current with best practice and innovation.
- Team leadership – support the Streets Scotland senior management team, deputise for the Streets office manager as required, and actively support recruitment to grow the team.
- Internal relationship building – establish strong working relationships with other internal teams across AECOM's business lines.

Qualifications- Relevant degree, preferably chartered in a recognised engineering institution.
- A successful track record in managing and delivering a portfolio of traffic engineering projects, particularly sustainable infrastructure and road/traffic projects.
- A proven ability to deliver bids and proposals and to manage and grow a team, with strong leadership skills and the ability to develop a highly motivated project delivery team.
