About the Role
Senior Tunnelling Engineer to work on major civil projects across the UK, supporting Tunnelling & Underground Structures. The role involves leading design work, managing a small team, and contributing to program and budget development. Although advertised as a full‑time role, part‑time options will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a Design Lead for project elements, liaising with clients and the wider design team for day‑to‑day design development, guided by a Technical Lead or mentor.
- Manage junior engineers in the design of infrastructure elements.
- Provide input to engineering budget and programme development to meet project requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree level in Civil, Civil & Structural Engineering or MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical, or Tunnelling Engineering, and/or working towards a professional membership.
- Proven experience designing reinforced concrete elements for underground structures (secant piles, capping beams, segmental shaft linings, in‑situ concrete structural elements, D‑Walls, shafts and tunnels) to Eurocodes.
- Good familiarity of Geotechnical Engineering principles as they apply to soil‑structure interaction.
