- We’re looking for a
- Hydraulic Specialist to join our growing
Water team. You will play a senior technical role, leading small teams to deliver critical hydraulic analysis of clean‑water and wastewater treatment facilities across the UK.
The role focuses primarily on hydraulic modelling of treatment facilities, with opportunities to work on a wider range of civil, environmental and design projects.
Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate HADES models for treatment plant infrastructure.
- Explore hydraulic modelling scenarios and develop solutions for scales ranging from pilot to full‑size plants.
- Prepare high‑quality technical reports that clearly document model assumptions, building processes, results, and uncertainties.
- Present findings and recommendations to clients and internal multidisciplinary teams.
- Support project delivery tasks, including preparation of hydraulic profiles and coordination with other disciplines to develop detailed design drawings.
- Engage with clients and use AECOM project‑management systems to deliver work on time and within budget.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in open‑channel hydraulic design, including sub‑critical and super‑critical flow and hydraulic jumps.
- Experience designing hydraulic structures such as weirs and flumes.
- Experience with gravity pipe and pressure pipe design.
- Ability to develop hydraulic models and/or produce calculations for a range of treatment plant sizes independently.
- Understanding of hydraulic modelling scenarios and interpretation of results.
- Chartered status or progressing towards chartership with CIWEM or ICE.
Desirable but not essential
- Experience with HADES modelling.
- Location
Based in England and Wales, with offices in Basingstoke, Belfast, Bristol, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Leeds and Manchester. Flexible working arrangements are available.
