Job Description
Our Energy Advisory team are currently seeking a graduate to work within either our London-Aldgate, Birmingham or Leeds office with a start date of August 2026 onwards.
About our Team:
We are addressing the global ever-growing need for cleaner energy and decarbonisation by aligning our integrated consultancy teams with the needs and goals of governments, local authorities, developers, construction contractors, manufacturers, financiers and operators of energy infrastructure.
Our Energy Advisory team are looking to expand the team with a graduate specialising in Energy Efficiency and Energy Decarbonisation.
Committed to addressing the complete spectrum of energy challenges, we offer expertise in the following sectors:
- energy efficiency and carbon management,
- energy master planning,
- building decarbonisation,
- renewable energy (wind, solar, hydropower),
- Digital solutions (bespoke energy tools and dashboarding)
- bioenergy (including energy from waste),
- thermal power generation
- Sustainability frameworks
Our projects make a real difference on a global scale. From saving megawatts of power through Europe-wide site visits to decarbonise asset portfolios, to helping shape the future of UK energy security, our work is both diverse and impactful. We partner with government departments, providing expert advice to ensure public funds drive real innovation. We also support world-leading organisations with their energy compliance, carrying out over 40 energy audits to help them stay ahead of climate goals and regulatory requirements. This is a delivery focused role requiring a technical understanding of energy efficiency and energy decarbonisation and ability to perform research and make recommendations regarding emerging energy and decarbonisation technologies.
The role involves assisting in the delivery of a broad spectrum of technical services to our clients drawing on the wide capabilities that we have on offer.
Here\’s what you\’ll do:
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the delivery of consultancy services on energy engineering and decarbonisation projects.
- Providing input into feasibility level studies for energy projects in conjunction with the wider AECOM teams.
- Data analysis to support projects related to energy efficiency, building decarbonisation, and renewable energy feasibility.
- Strong creative presentation skills, using engaging graphics and visuals to showcase work effectively and simplify complex information for client understanding.
- Performing energy calculations and cost to validate energy conservation measures (ECMs) on energy auditing projects
- Energy and utility usage analysis for building decarbonisation, energy efficiency, and energy management projects
- Research on solutions for client projects related to advanced and emerging energy technologies
- Preparing technical reports and presentations to communicate findings to clients and stakeholders

Qualifications

Here\’s what we\’re looking for:
- BEng in relevant discipline or BSc with Post graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline – e.g. Energy Engineering
- A 2:1 (or equivalent) degree classification or above
- Work or educational experience in energy engineering, such as HVAC systems, industrial energy efficiency, and/or energy load calculations would be beneficial
- Able to demonstrate a commitment to continued education and improvement through participating in our approved training schemes
- Demonstrable interest in a career in energy efficiency and low carbon operations
- Good Microsoft Office skills essential such as Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate effectively to internal and external clients, both verbally & in writing with the confidence to engage with a variety of people (clients, colleagues, stakeholders and sub-contractors alike) and the aptitude to rationally explain, explore and discuss technical issues and capture feedback
- Enthusiastic, hard-working, with ambition and drive
- Ability to structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team as a whole
- Ability to work in a team and independently without losing initiative & focus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Driving license – some travel to site may be required with equipment
- Student member of an appropriate professional institution
- Working ability in a second language and/or relevant work experience outside the UK
