Work with Us. Change the World. At AECOM, we are delivering a better world. Whether improving your commute, keeping the lights on, providing access to clean water, or transforming skylines, our work helps people and communities thrive. We are the world's trusted infrastructure consulting firm, partnering with clients to solve the world’s most complex challenges and build legacies for future generations.

Energy: Enabling the energy transition through innovation and sustainability. AECOM's Energy Business Unit houses three specialised practices — renewables (including hydropower), electrical transmission & distribution and in the UK only, nuclear. Each practice plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of energy, offering innovative solutions that balance efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.

We’re committed to playing our part in the urgent transition from carbon-intensive energy sources to less centralised and more flexible energy systems. Our teams of energy professionals link up across our global network of offices to provide solutions, designs, and support to clients in multiple technical and deployment areas such as: hydropower, on and offshore wind power, solar power, carbon capture, alternative fuels, hydrogen and, crucially, energy demand assessment and carbon reduction.

As our Hydropower Lead, you will be a senior member of the team and responsible for:

  • Developing and leading a high performing team, project delivery and developing and maintaining client, supply chain and internal relationships on an international basis.
  • Reviewing and generating technical and contractual information from both internal and external sources.
  • Serving as a program manager, project manager, or technical lead, directing teams on major hydropower projects and programs.
  • Leading multi-disciplinary teams to the successful completion of the project, focusing on client communication and delivery.
  • Leading the pursuit of major hydropower projects, leading major proposals, and engaging with clients.
  • Supporting senior leaders in the development of business strategies for hydropower based on market trends and identifying and pursuing opportunities within the business line and adjacent sectors.
  • Maintaining regular interaction with clients to ensure satisfaction with AECOM services and engaging with project delivery personnel to proactively address client feedback on team performance.
  • Coordinating with AECOM's Technical Practice Leads to match team skills with market trends and drive strategic technical leadership hires.
  • Coordinating multi-disciplinary design of hydropower energy infrastructure.
  • Responding to technical queries.
  • Acting as lead verifier on reports including technical feasibility studies and design reports.
  • Directing less senior members of staff and mentoring more junior engineers.

If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you. Join our team, where we don’t just construct infrastructure but also uplift communities and enhance lives.

Qualifications: Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • BEng (Hons) degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical or Mechanical or Environmental).
  • Chartered status or actively working towards chartership.
  • Experience leading projects in hydroelectric design, construction, commissioning, developing teams, and working with clients and collaborators on an international level.

As an inclusive leader, you will have demonstrated dedication to fostering a culture of respect, diversity, and inclusion within the team and organization.

If you meet some of the requirements above or have transferable skills you believe would benefit us, we would be delighted to hear from you!
