About the Team
Our Renewable Energy team is at the forefront of the energy sector's transformation, delivering low-carbon energy solutions and supporting the UK's transition to a greener future. Projects span wind, solar, hydro, energy storage, hydrogen, and nuclear, covering advisory, engineering, environmental, programme delivery and construction services. Project work includes feasibility through detailed design and site construction supervision, in the UK and internationally, for clients ranging from large energy utilities to private developers.
Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of consultancy services on renewable energy engineering projects, including undertaking site visits and supervision.
- Provide input into feasibility level studies for renewable energy projects with wider AECOM teams.
- Prepare technical reports and detailed design information.
- Assist in securing work with renewable energy developers and their supply chain.
A typical project example: Lancaster University Solar Farm β AECOM was contracted to manage design and tender preparation, and is acting as NEC Project Manager and Owner's Engineer during build and commissioning.
Qualifications Required:
- BEng Electrical Engineering
- MSc/MEng would be an advantage
- 2:1 degree classification or above
- Commitment to continued education and approved training schemes
- Demonstrable interest in a career in renewable energy
- Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Effective communication skills with clients, colleagues, stakeholders, and subcontractors
- Enthusiastic, hard-working, with ambition and drive
- Ability to structure and prioritise work within a team
- Ability to work in a team and independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Work experience in renewable energy or related field (developer, equipment manufacturer, or consultant)
- Familiarity with CAD and PVSyst
- Driving license; some site travel may be required
- Student member of a professional institution
- Working ability in a second language or experience outside the UK
