Job Description
As a Cost Intelligence consultant you will take an active role across all stages of a construction project. Working on large-scale infrastructure and capital programmes you will collaborate with a wide variety of clients in cross-disciplinary teams. You will utilise sector knowledge and gain exposure to new areas of study and research. You will be responsible for deliverables within your projects and initiatives, driving innovation with the support of colleagues.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Support and deliver commissions in area of efficiency & value identification, assurance & continuous improvement, construction economics research & analysis, plus general cost intelligence services.
- Have experience in one or more of the following technical disciplines:
- Cost Model and / or Cost Estimate development
- Statistical Analysis to support benchmarking and efficiency exercises
- Business Cases development and Cost Benefit Analysis
- Defining business models
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through benchmarking and efficiency exercises
- Possess analysis capabilities which be applied to client and industry datasets to create data-driven solutions.
- Work with the leadership team to mature and develop service offerings with practical and viable solutions for our clients.
- Provide assistance to senior management in the preparation of technical and financial proposals
- Ensure effective delivery through project and financial management for complex assignments.
- Maintain high quality professional outputs.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
As the ideal candidate you will have experience working within key construction infrastructure markets along with the following experience and qualifications;
- Technical Analysis & Reporting
Conduct cost modelling, cost estimation, business case development, cost-benefit analysis, and statistical analysis to support client and project decision-making. - Develop and maintain databases to support analytical outputs and reporting.
- Produce high-quality, auditable deliverables with clear documentation and validation of results.
- Prepare and present technical reports and presentations tailored to client needs.
- Problem Solving & Innovation
Apply creative problem-solving approaches to develop novel solutions that meet client requirements. Demonstrate a proactive and driven attitude in tackling complex challenges.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams through strong verbal and written skills. Manage stakeholder relationships with confidence and professionalism, ensuring alignment and clarity across project phases. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Project Delivery & Industry Experience
Ensure timely delivery of outputs in line with client and manager expectations. Maintain a high standard of quality control, including error checking and validation of analytical results. Bring experience from consultancy or contracting roles within relevant disciplines. Contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects across Transport, Water, Energy, and other sectors.
- Essential Skills & Tools
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.). Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a range of clients and consultants.
- Desirable Requirements
Experience in the Defence sector. Familiarity with coding languages such as Python or R. Background in database development and management.
- Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM discipline (min 2:2). Member of relevant industry body such as the RICS, APM or Controls & Skills Authority with supporting accreditation/certifications.
