Our Building Services team is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Building Services Design Consultant Engineering team based in our Croydon office to support the delivery of project work.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills to enhance our electrical engineering field of building services and collaborate across all disciplines.
A candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical building services design, including knowledge of heating and cooling pipework, ventilation systems, and control systems. Experience with Autocad Revit and willingness to adopt in‑house digital tools is essential. The role may involve occasional travel to St Albans and London offices.
Job Responsibilities
- Support multiple projects and teams with direct design and delivery activities for all phases of a project or a number of projects.
- Perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
- Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well‑defined procedures.
- Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations.
- Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered.
- Identify discrepancies in results.
- Provide guidance to trainee engineers.
- Perform work in accordance with agreed time frame with supervision.
- Contribute to the development of technical proposals.
- Support and lead our 3D and BIM capabilities.
Minimum Requirements
- Knowledge and experience of mechanical building services calculations and design.
- A highly motivated individual able to quickly grasp new concepts and design tools.
- Fluency in spoken and written communication, including reports and presentations.
- Relevant experience in building services electrical engineering design, including specification writing, calculations, development and familiarity with UK codes and practices.
Qualifications
- BSc or BEng in an Engineering degree or MEng in an Engineering degree with accreditation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Registered as a Member with a professional institution and following a training plan toward professional registration with either the Institute of Mechanical Engineers or the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers.
- Existing BPSS or SC preference.
