Our Environment and Energy Advisory team are delivering a diverse and high-impact portfolio of projects. We are seeing a rapid increase in demand for the provision of climate change resilience services. Recent project wins on high profile, strategic projects with DSNEZ and Scottish Water along with a range of projects across the transport, energy, defence, water and other sectors in the built environment are providing us the opportunity to increase our team.
As a Senior Climate Change Risk Consultant, you will be part of our wider team helping to win and deliver key projects. Your primary role will be the management of projects and tasks as well as technical delivery of Climate Risk and Resilience projects. You will also be responsible for supporting the Climate Resilience Lead with business development and proposal preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Delivery & Technical Leadership
- Lead and deliver defined workstreams or small to mid-sized Climate Risk & Resilience (CCR) projects with minimal supervision, coordinating junior team members and ensuring high-quality technical outputs.
- Provide specialist expertise in areas such as infrastructure resilience, transport infrastructure adaptation, energy systems and the built environment, nature-based solutions, and place-based or systems-based adaptation approaches.
- Deliver projects across multiple sectors and geographies, adapting methodologies and recommendations to suit diverse client contexts and operational environments.
- Assess and communicate the interaction between transition climate risks and physical climate risks within broader resilience strategies.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve methodologies, project efficiency, and climate resilience service offerings.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage directly with clients and stakeholders, facilitating workshops, resilience discussions, and collaborative decision-making processes.
- Work effectively within complex stakeholder and regulatory environments, including public sector organisations, infrastructure owners, and regulators.
- Climate Risk Analysis & Regulatory Support
- Apply knowledge of climate-related disclosure and regulatory frameworks, including TCFD and adaptation reporting requirements, to support client compliance and resilience strategies.
- Use data, geospatial, and digital tools such as GIS and Excel to undertake climate risk analysis and support evidence-based recommendations.
- Business Development & Thought Leadership
- Support business development activities through proposal writing, client engagement, and contribution to strategic growth opportunities.
- Contribute to the development of internal tools, methodologies, guidance, and thought leadership relating to climate risk and resilience.
- Team Development & Collaboration
- Mentor and support the development of junior team members through guidance, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Relevant Academic Background
- Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related climate discipline, with strong knowledge of climate modelling, flood risk, infrastructure resilience, or similar fields.
- Climate Risk & Resilience Assessment Experience
- Proven experience delivering climate risk, vulnerability, and resilience assessments for infrastructure, energy, utilities, or major developments, aligned with UK policy, guidance, and frameworks such as ISO 14090/14091 and TCFD.
- Technical Climate Risk Expertise
- Strong technical capability in assessing current and emerging physical climate risks, applying climate projections (e.g. UKCP18), and using qualitative and quantitative risk assessment methodologies to support decision-making.
- Data Interpretation & Reporting Skills
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to interpret complex climate data and uncertainty, produce high-quality client-ready reports, and present clear actionable insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaboration, Leadership & Professional Development
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, take ownership of workstreams, support junior staff, and demonstrate commitment to professional development and chartership.
