Are you ready to join a team of talented structural engineers to help shape and lead the future of water infrastructure? Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as an Associate Director, Structural Engineer. You can be based in one of our UK offices whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model. Our direct clients include most major water companies and a number of Tier 1 contractors in the sector. Our projects cover new and upgraded clean and wastewater networks, and all scales of treatment works upgrades.
Responsibilities
- Deploy technical excellence in the design of a wide range of heavy civil engineering structures, from deep belowground pumping stations to large aboveground water-retaining concrete structures, and complex piled foundations to steel-framed buildings.
- Develop structural solutions to interesting and often complex challenges and lead and oversee detailed design activities by others, as well as prepare detailed designs yourself.
- Challenge the norm, identifying and implementing innovative ideas, best practice, and new ways of thinking and working to deliver value for our clients.
- Lead the structural design of projects and mentor and support the professional development of team members, fostering positive client relationships.
- Serve as the interface with other project design disciplines and harness excellent communication skills when dealing with clients and other project stakeholders.
- Participate in the preparation and reviewing of high‑quality drawings, calculations, specifications, and reports to communicate solutions.
- Ensure quality is central to everything you do; review and sign‑off project deliverables with a focus on compliance and efficiency.
Qualifications
- A degree or equivalent qualification and experience in civil and structural engineering.
- Membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional institution; e.g., ICE, IStructE.
- Experience in developing robust and efficient structural solutions and managing technical delivery in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience in structural design using appropriate standards and specifications.
- Strong collaboration and coordination skills between teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Passion for delivering technical solutions and leading technical teams.
