Job Description
AECOM recognises that managing the design of major, multidisciplinary projects requires exceptional coordination, communication, and quality control. As part of our Design Management team, you will establish and implement processes, procedures and controls to ensure the design process is effective, risks are reduced, and delivery standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Work with a Design Manager to support AECOM Design Teams and external clients on projects in London and internationally.
- Manage sub‑consultants, including preparing responsibility matrices, drafting back‑to‑back contracts, setting cash‑flow projections, and tracking invoices.
- Establish and maintain design procedures and protocols, collate them in a Design Management Plan, and ensure all team members use the established procedures.
- Monitor design schedules and progress; identify risks and coordinate mitigation actions with the design team.
- Prepare and maintain reporting documents, including drawing registers, status reports, and minutes of workshops and meetings.
- Assist with information-gathering tools such as RFIs and coordinate decision‑making processes.
- Support the delivery of project workshops and meetings, preparing agendas and formal minutes.
- Maintain project websites and other documentation required for client submission and internal records.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (minimum 2:1 or equivalent) in Architecture or a related discipline that demonstrates an understanding of the design and construction process.
- Enthusiasm for the built environment and a genuine interest in pursuing a career in design management.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Good understanding of the design process and its key stages.
- Strong organisational, project, and design programming skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how projects are delivered from concept to completion.
