Our team has an established track record of successfully delivering major multidisciplinary rail projects. We are now looking to enhance and grow this team with a Principal Rail Low Voltage Design Engineer. You will have delivered rail projects to client satisfaction at the appropriate standard, ensuring accuracy of drawings and calculations, ensuring designs are economic, constructable and compliant with relevant codes and standards.
You will have strong business development and client relationship skills and the ability to develop and manage the work of others. The team provides design, assessment, inspection, construction support and management services on a wide range of rail projects, including feasibility studies, outline designs and detailed designs.
Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for the technical and commercial delivery of projects, focusing on low voltage (LV) systems, including Points Heating, Lighting, and Signalling Power.
- Receive brief from Project Manager and cascade through team members.
- Develop concept and detailed designs including calculations, reports and specifications.
- Check CAD drawings and design documentation produced by team members.
- Prepare and check technical reports.
- Support development of project specifications for construction.
- Attend site during construction phase if necessary to ensure compliance with specifications/drawings.
You will have a very good understanding of Health and Safety including CDM.
Qualifications:
- BSc, BEng or MEng degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer (or working towards) and member of a professional institution.
- Proven track record in railway Electrification & Power design and delivery as a CRE or Lead Design Engineer.
- Experience in the use of Network Rail, London Underground, Railway Group Standards, British Standards and Eurocodes is ideal.
