As the Technical Project Delivery lead, you will be expected to oversee the programme project management approach to all of the Transmission and Distribution Sector (T&D), strategic frameworks and assurance. The role covers the whole project lifecycle from capture to initial inception, through the design process, procurement process and delivery.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Oversee multidisciplinary projects and programmes from inception to completion.
- Develop and execute the Project Plan, including close-out phases.
- Identify and mitigate project and business risks.
- Prepare for and participate in monthly project reviews, managing and executing action items.
- Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Maintain the AECOM project management and reporting system.
- Ensure project cost and revenue are current and accurately reflect anticipated financial outcomes and manage project cash flow performance.
- Collaborate with practice leads and client account managers to understand project resource needs.
- Coordinate with other business units to allocate resources for energy projects.
- Advocate for structured project delivery methods to integrate broader AECOM disciplines.
- Mentor, develop and coach team members to support their professional development.
- Act as the point of escalation for the client to raise issues if needed.
- Support the PM with any difficult client conversations and contractual negotiations.
- Identify and close any PM capability gaps through one-on-one coaching, focused training, mentoring, development, or through assigning additional suitable resources to the project.
Client Relationship Management and Business Development:
- Foster a client-centric culture within the project team.
- Address client feedback and implement appropriate actions.
- Manage client and project team change effectively to ensure the project delivers superior technical outcomes for the client.
- Leverage successful project delivery to cultivate additional work opportunities with clients.
- Participate in client presentations and interviews.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Familiarity with differing contractual agreements, particularly NEC, would be advantageous.
- Ideally, you will have formal PM qualifications or accreditation.
- Strong analytical capabilities and adept at problem-solving.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Extensive experience with a proven track record in leading and delivering large-scale, multi-disciplinary energy projects from DCO through to design and delivery.
- Deep understanding of risk management within complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of commercial management practices for large, complex projects and programmes.
- Skilled in managing senior project managers, project managers, and project control functions on complex projects.
- Have the ability to balance competing business interests.
