Our Birmingham Cost Management team continues to grow, with specific growth demand within the Commercial, Industrial and Logistics, Residential and Education markets where we have successfully secured positions with many high‑profile clients and some key local projects and programs in the industry. As a direct result of this growth, we are currently seeking a Senior Cost Manager to join our Birmingham team. You will be expected to work as part of an integrated team, with the role of Senior Cost Manager covering the whole project lifecycle from initial inception and business case development, through the design process, procurement process, site delivery, commissioning phase and defects management.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Provide effective support, mentoring and line management to Project Surveyors / Cost Managers, Graduates and Apprentices.
- Lead projects from a Cost Management perspective from inception to completion.
- Produce cost estimates, cost plans, procurement and tendering advice, through to post‑contract delivery of valuations, change control, reporting and final account.
- Take responsibility for the delivery of projects and managing support teams.
- Ensure commissions are managed and completed efficiently, on time and to the client’s satisfaction.
- Develop strong reciprocal relationships with clients and members of the project team.
- Be an interface with AECOM clients (new and existing).

Qualifications: Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Degree Qualified – BSc or MSc – in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management.
- Professional Qualified – Chartered Status with the RICS.
- Proven experience in Cost Management providing a full spectrum of deliverables throughout projects.
- Proven ability to advise clients and design teams on cost, value and risk, not just cost in isolation.
- Excellent IT Skills and the ability to utilise digital measurement, cost planning and tender documentation tools shall be essential.
- Experience of project types/sizes/sectors within our active sectors in the UK – i.e. Commercial, Industrial and Logistics, Residential, Higher Education and Mixed Use.
