AECOM is seeking a Water Group Director to lead our Water business across New Zealand. This is your chance to drive impactful change in a role that balances client engagement, project oversight, and team leadership. We work with clients across the entire project life cycle — from initial planning studies through final construction and operations and maintenance services — on both traditional and alternative project-delivery options (design-build, public-private partnerships and financing). Job Description

We have a unique leadership opportunity to join our Water Line of Business as a Group Director. Inspiring our industry leading and highly motivated team of Water and Geotechnical professionals in delivering critical diverse Water projects throughout Australia, New Zealand and internationally.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Project Oversight: Lead a diverse portfolio of water and geotechnical projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and exceed client expectations.
  • People & Internal Initiatives: Inspire and develop your team, fostering a collaborative culture that prioritises growth and excellence. As an engaging and knowledgeable expert in the industry, with existing local networks, you will continue to drive AECOM’s reputation as a leading consultant on Water projects, as we solve our client’s most complex challenges. With client satisfaction and project delivery forefront, you will ensure our internal structure and skills are set up and continue to provide the best possible service to the market. You will engage with current and prospective clients to build effective relationships resulting in revenue growth, through deepening relationships of trust, best for project delivery and exceptional quality. You will be a role model, leading from the front, driving cultural behaviours of collaboration, innovative thinkers, trust, result focused and a care for colleagues to drive a psychological safety of being able to bring your full self to work.

Qualifications

Excellent client management skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and confidently. A focus on team development and internal collaboration to drive success. A visionary mindset to help shape the future of our water and geotechnical business across New Zealand. With extensive experience leading business performance and owning a P&L across a broad range of projects, your record for delivering strong business results will underpin confidence to lead us through a dynamic landscape. A track record in building high performing teams, is an architect for change, expands capability and capacity whilst driving flawless execution. You will be a collaborative and influential leader, who is able to build effective relationships with clients, your high performing internal team and other internal stakeholders. This includes an active role contributing to the success and direction of the whole business as part of the regional Leadership team and the ANZ Region’s Water Leadership team. Forward-thinking, you will embrace change and have an appetite for implementing and utilising cutting-edge digital technology. You will be happy to step forward into the challenges the ever-changing nature of our business brings and be accountable for the outcomes you and your team deliver.
