Our thriving Streets team, part of AECOM's Transportation Business Line, has a vacancy for an Associate Director to take a leading role within the team in our Birmingham office. The streets team is growing to cater for an increased workload, particularly in Active Travel, Bus User Priority, Highway Improvement and Infrastructure schemes. It provides concept, preliminary and detailed designs, community engagement, project delivery and construction management services on a wide range of multi-disciplinary transportation and urban realm projects.
As an Associate Director, you will have proven team leadership, business development, project management and project delivery experience. You will have appropriate qualifications and demonstrable experience in a technical lead role. The role would suit a self-motivated and independent individual, a natural leader, looking to utilise the latest technologies to advance their career in a dynamic team.
Key responsibilities:
- Undertake client-facing project duties, representing AECOM as the key point of contact and develop sound client relationships.
- Act as an AECOM accredited Project Manager, managing the financial performance of projects.
- Provide technical leadership on projects or packages of work for traffic engineering schemes.
- Lead and manage packages of work/design elements undertaken by our overseas design centres.
- Lead on quality management and ensure compliance of designs with the requirements of the brief, all applicable standards, regulations and AECOM quality procedures.
- Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team.
- Contribute to work winning through bid management, tender production and preparation of proposals.
- Support senior management of the Streets team deputising for Regional Directors/Office leads as required.
- Establish strong working relationships with other internal teams across AECOM's business lines.
- Support and monitor team skills and ensure they are up to date with current best practice, techniques, and innovation.
- Support the technical and professional development of members of the team.
- Undertake line manager responsibilities for junior staff, providing guidance, management and career planning.
Qualifications:
- A successful track record in the project management and delivery of multi-disciplinary transportation engineering schemes.
- Knowledge and experience of relevant design and safety standards.
- An ability to deal directly with clients and engage at a senior level within client organisations.
- A successful track record of delivery of bids and proposals.
- Experience of team management including technical development and mentoring of staff.
- Experience of successfully managing work delivered by overseas design centres.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A relevant degree and Chartered status with a recognised professional institution or equivalent industry experience.
