At AECOM, we are currently recruiting for a Structural Engineer to join our Belfast office. Here’s what you’ll do:

AECOM is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Structural Engineer to join our Belfast team. This role will focus on delivering complex, high-profile projects across the residential, healthcare, education, and infrastructure sectors. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving technical excellence, mentoring team members, and supporting the strategic growth of our structural engineering practice in Ireland. We work across a diverse range of sectors, including healthcare, data centres, commercial, hospitality, education, and civic projects, serving both public and private clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively deliver technical aspects of projects or parts for which you are responsible.
  • Manage the technical delivery of projects, from interpretation of client brief, to co-ordination of designs with other disciplines.
  • Manage engineers and technicians to provide technical deliverables in line with project programming requirements.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with senior-level management within the company.
  • Ensure work and design solutions satisfy health and safety guidelines, and are in line with the company quality assurance processes and procedures.
  • Use your experience and knowledge to mentor and coach junior members of the team, to assist them with their career progression within the company.

Specific Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of design in Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steelwork.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the current Eurocodes and specifically Eurocode 2 & Eurocode 3.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Structural Analysis Software, SCIA, TEKLA or similar software.
  • Experience in the assessment of existing structures and their justification, as well as new build designs.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and work with the project delivery team, both internally and externally.

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in structural design consultancy.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng).
  • Member of either the Institution of Structural Engineers (MIStructE) and/or the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE).

Desirable attributes:

  • Knowledge and experience of the local Belfast marketplace.
