We are looking for a Senior Modeller to join our growing Water Resources team. You will be a senior technical resource that will guide our more junior staff and proactively aim to develop our offering to local authorities, water companies, private and public sector clients.

Principal accountabilities:
  • Developing and checking hydraulic models (using packages such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, Mike 11, Mike 21, HEC-RAS and ICM) to assist the design of Flood Alleviation Schemes, deliver Flood Risk Assessments and conduct reservoir flood studies.
  • Develop water quality models (which could be physico-chemical, biological, bacterial, or chemical) using industry standard software e.g. MIKE, Delft3D, SIMCAT and/or ICM.
  • Conceptualisation and scoping of modelling approaches, with consideration of the risks and opportunities in each.
  • Undertaking and checking hydrological assessments including Flood Estimation Handbook, ReFH2 and WINFAP.
  • Lead and input into tenders ranging from innovative one-off projects to multimillion pound framework contracts.
  • Mentor staff within the team to support their professional development.
  • Build relationships with clients and across other technical disciplines.
  • Keep up-to-date with developments in legislation and guidelines that may affect our services.
  • Use AECOM’s project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs to our clients in line with the agreed programme and budget.
  • Work closely with our clients and teams of engineers and technical specialists to help our clients deliver a wide range of fluvial, coastal, surface water or drainage flood risk management projects.

We are a growing team who service a wide variety of clients, which will be at your fingertips to explore. Our current clients in the UK vary from local government, water companies and private developers. We also have large contracts for Middle Eastern clients where you could be working on some of the most ambitious projects in the world.

We have 600 staff across the UK mainly in Basingstoke, Belfast, Bristol, Chesterfield, Croydon, Edinburgh, Leeds and Manchester. We meet every week to check in, share news and plan work. We work hard to give our team development opportunities, whether that is a secondment to see the client’s perspective, an assignment to spend time on site to manage a construction contract, or arranging training to allow you to grow.

In joining the team you will have the opportunity to shape your career. Perhaps you would like to help develop our international offering, drive innovation through technology, or act as a mentoring champion to develop our team. We will make sure you get the opportunities and responsibilities you need.

Why Join Us:
  • Be part of a dynamic team that tackles challenging and impactful water projects.
  • Work alongside industry-leading professionals and thought leaders.
  • Engage in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
  • Opportunity to progress in this role in line with your professional development, the growth of the team and the success and growth of our water business.
