We have an exciting opportunity for a Stakeholder Engagement Consultant to join our growing Stakeholder Engagement, Consultation and Communications team in Cardiff. We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering complex projects across Wales and beyond, and who can support effective communications and engagement with a wide range of audiences.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Communications: Support the development of communications strategy and delivery plans for major infrastructure projects, including Infrastructure Consent projects and DCOs. Develop themes, core messages and collateral for multiple audiences and stakeholders, including digital users, the media, local communities, statutory bodies, technical groups, and elected representatives. Identify creative ways to communicate complex ideas to a wide audience. Manage communications channels and engage directly with local communities.
  • Engagement and consultation: Identify and map key stakeholders for client projects, and establish an engagement strategy and delivery plans. Support consultation delivery, develop surveys, manage stakeholder feedback channels and analyse consultation responses. Plan and deliver events, both physical and virtual, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all attendees, delivering logistics, developing tailored materials, developing Q&As and briefing colleagues.
  • Client relations: Liaise with internal and external clients, ensuring a high level of customer service and ensuring accurate, timely reporting.
  • Business development: Help to support our growth in Wales through networking and opportunity scanning.

Qualifications:

You have experience working in the communications or public affairs sector, or in a relevant role within the infrastructure sector, in Wales. You have a strong interest in industry sectors relevant to our business (e.g. infrastructure, transport, energy, water, residential development, commercial development), and are confident engaging a variety of audiences and stakeholder groups. You have a keen interest in the Welsh political landscape and an understanding of the Welsh planning system. Fluency in Welsh (written and spoken) would be preferable.

You’re proactive and ambitious, work well both alone and in a team, and can bring about new ideas on engagement. You have great personal communication skills, are culturally aware, and have a strong focus on inclusion and accessibility. For you, giving people a chance to influence projects that are delivered in and around their communities for the better, is key. You’re willing to work flexibly and travel when required to meet with clients and project teams. You hold a Degree or a Masters in a relevant subject (for instance: Social Science, History, Politics, Geography, Language and Literature, Law, Business…), or an equivalent number of years of successful, relevant experience.

Most of our work revolves around engagement, consultation and communications during the consenting or construction phase of major infrastructure projects. Our team has been involved in a range of high-profile projects across a range of sectors, working with other AECOM disciplines or providing standalone services for clients such as local councils, transport operators, private developers and utilities suppliers.
