AECOM is recruiting an Associate Structural Director to join our Belfast office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced structural engineer with excellent business acumen and a proven track record in project delivery and assessment of existing structures. The Belfast Structures team focuses on projects not only in Belfast but also across the world. We specialize in healthcare, data centres, commercial, hospitality, education and civic sectors for public and private clients.

Duties of the Associate Director role include:

  • Effectively control the commercial, managerial, and technical aspects of projects and areas of the business for which you are responsible.
  • Sourcing opportunities and preparing fee proposals for submission to clients, including resources and programme.
  • Developing relationships with new clients and enhancing business relationships with existing clients.
  • Leading a team of engineers and technicians designing building infrastructure schemes.
  • Developing the skills of employees within the team, through mentoring and training; ensuring they have clear direction on how to progress their careers.
  • Ensuring the AECOM principles on project delivery are conducted in line with company policy, ensuring quality on all aspects of project delivery.

Specific Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of design in Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steelwork.
  • Excellent understanding of the application of the current Eurocodes relating to structural design.
  • Experience in the assessment of existing structures and their justification, as well as new build designs.
  • The ability to identify, assess and mitigate risks, relating to both Health & Safety, design and the construction of buildings.
  • The ability to effectively communicate and promote your message across the team, senior management and represent AECOM professionally to clients and external bodies.
  • Ability to accurately check and verify work, ensuring that it is carried out to the appropriate technical standard and managed to programme and budget constraints.

Minimum Professional Qualifications:

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng)
  • Member of either the Institution of Structural Engineers (MIStructE) and/or the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE).
  • A solid track record of working on and successfully delivered large, diverse, complex projects, where you acted as project leader for the structures discipline.
  • Knowledge and experience of the local Belfast marketplace.
