Start Here Grow Here AECOM Advisory is seeking dynamic professionals to support our growing global Advisory business. We are seeking talented management consultants to join AECOM Advisory who are mission-driven for client engagements in supporting capital investment programmes, transformation projects and asset enhancement initiatives. Roles can be based anywhere in the UK.

Building on AECOM’s expertise in infrastructure design and implementation, AECOM Advisory advises senior level clients on enterprise and strategic needs. We deliver projects across the infrastructure market, with a current focus on aviation, defence, energy and water. Our team of 400 staff globally comprises business and policy analysts, economists, commercial strategists, technology architects, as well as human capital and change management practitioners. We help clients develop strategy, improve operational performance, and integrate digital systems to generate value for stakeholders and communities.

You will join a fast-paced and supportive team of diverse consulting professionals, with a culture of mentorship, collaborative problem-solving, and opportunities for professional growth.

What you’ll do

  • Build client relationships and manage interactions throughout the engagement lifecycle, bringing clients into engagement delivery and securing buy-in.
  • Coordinate inputs from regional leadership, Client Account Managers, and technical experts to flag key delivery choices, considerations and risks related to scope, client satisfaction, and commercial constraints.
  • Independently tailor existing analytical frameworks and methodologies for client-specific needs.
  • Collaborate with leadership to architect new analytical frameworks for client-specific needs.
  • Apply frameworks to deconstruct, dimensionalise, and analyse client problems.
  • Leverage AI tools to conduct baseline assessments and secondary research.
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews, including with C-suite and senior management stakeholders.
  • Create executive-ready decks to build buy-in and convey data-driven insights.
  • Synthesise inputs into coherent insights across formats: slide decks, narratives, playbooks, dashboards and toolkits.
  • Coach and mentor junior staff on core consulting skills.
  • Support Capture Managers with proposal elements: narrative development, technical solutions, pricing, team definition, subcontractor engagement, risk review and compliance procedures.
  • Create pitch decks and define AECOM Advisory’s value proposition.
  • Bring commercial acumen around client needs and budgets, researching client contexts.

Qualifications

Here's what we're looking for:

  • Management consulting or corporate strategy experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Preferred: MBA or other Master’s degree in Operational Research, Management, Management Science, Finance, Economics, Systems Engineering and/or related fields.
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong technical skills, including experience with one or more of the following software packages.
  • Evaluation of financial cashflows, particularly public finance, via Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, client-service mindset and ability to act as a trusted adviser to clients.
  • Ability to collaborate with internal teams across geographies and business lines.
  • Ability to work in a high-tempo, client-facing environment while maintaining poise and effectiveness under pressure.
  • Self-directed, proactive, and receptive to iterative feedback.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and strong numerical/quantitative skills.
  • Strong analytical, logical reasoning and structured problem-solving skills; ability to handle large volumes of client information.
  • Solid commercial acumen and informed point of view on enterprise challenges across people, process, technology; understanding of client industries.
  • Strong verbal communication and narrative development skills for C-suite audiences.
  • Collegial team-player able to work within a diverse consulting team.

Desired competencies include experience in at least one of the following areas: corporate or enterprise strategy, capital programme strategy, market analysis, operating model design, business transformation, technology-led transformation, capital projects advisory, decarbonisation and climate action, economic development.
