We are seeking a skilled and motivated MEP (Building Services) Associate Director (AD) to join our Scotland team. The role will focus on defence sector MEP engineering management and leadership, responsible for all aspects of MEP design, including technical, quality, programming, resourcing, delivery, financial management, risk and governance. Security clearance will be required to fulfil the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, oversee and coordinate engineering production activities for Defence Sector MEP design delivery.
  • Make decisions and recommendations that are recognised as authoritative.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with senior‑level management within the company, skilled in dispute resolution and negotiation of critical issues.
  • Demonstrate understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, working with multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence.
  • Demonstrate mature judgment in anticipating and solving routine and unusual operations problems, determining operational objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.

Technical / Functional Expertise

  • Receive guidance and direction from senior members of leadership.
  • Manage a department or multiple processes or programmes with moderate to high complexity.
  • Accountable for performance and results for their area.
  • Integrate functional strategies and develop specific objectives.
  • Analyze complex issues and solve challenge problems.
  • Interpret, organise, execute and coordinate assignments and manage projects larger in scope and more complex.
  • Work collaboratively with the ability to act autonomously in line with policies, procedures in support of business strategy.
  • Provide leadership and direction through managers and professional staff or lead efforts to grow technical expertise.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in the design and management of mechanical and electrical building services and teams.
  • Either a mechanical or electrical bias but strong understanding of all MEP aspects.
  • Knowledge of heating, cooling, ventilation, above‑ground drainage, MEP controls and instrumentation, low‑voltage electrical distribution, communications and data systems, fire detection and alarm systems, industrial and emergency lighting, site broadcast (PA) systems.
  • Familiarity with engineering design and safety practices, internal procedures for health & safety, design, and quality assurance.

Requirements

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent qualification).
  • Chartered Engineer status.
  • Suitable for UK Security Clearance – Single UK nationality only; ability to gain or hold UK SC clearance.
