Work with Us. Change the World. At AECOM, we're delivering a better world. Whether improving your commute, keeping the lights on, providing access to clean water, or transforming skylines, our work helps people and communities thrive. We are the world's trusted infrastructure consulting firm, partnering with clients to solve the world’s most complex challenges and build legacies for future generations.
We are looking for experienced Senior Cost Managers to support our exciting growth plans, working with our key infrastructure clients across Scotland, the Midlands and North of England, particularly within the water and environment sectors. You will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of major capital projects and programmes of work while joining an established team of like-minded professionals who are passionate about innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions.
As a Senior Cost Manager within our Buildings & Places Infrastructure team, you will provide a comprehensive, accurate and value-driven service for large, high-profile clients within the water sector, including Scottish Water and the Environment Agency. This role covers all aspects of cost management throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial inception and business case development through to project completion and commissioning. It also provides the opportunity to support business growth while contributing to the management and development of less experienced team members.
Here's what you'll do:
- Lead and deliver all aspects of cost management from project inception through to completion, working collaboratively with peers, Directors, clients and wider project teams. This includes feasibility estimates, cost planning, contract procurement, tender documentation, value engineering, commercial management, fee generation, risk management, dispute resolution, post-contract cost management and reporting, and agreement of final accounts.
- Achieve the highest standards of professional competence and demonstrate this capability in all dealings with clients and professional contacts, reinforcing AECOM's reputation for excellence.
- Drive performance standards and technical excellence through expert communication, effective performance management and active participation in AECOM's technical practice networks.
- Build, maintain and develop strong client relationships, taking every opportunity to enhance AECOM's profile as a provider of professional, premium-quality services to the construction industry.
- Actively support the wider team and mentor more junior colleagues, particularly on technically complex projects.
- Identify and develop business development opportunities and, where appropriate, bring them to the attention of Directors and the Business Development team to help secure new work and strengthen client relationships.
If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you to join our team. Here, we don't just deliver infrastructure projects; we help uplift communities and improve lives.
Qualifications: Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent); Accredited MRICS (or working towards membership).
- Significant experience and strong track record in the Cost Management/Quantity Surveying field.
- Good working knowledge of NEC4 suite of contracts, particularly the Professional Services Contract (PSC) and Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC).
- Experience of undertaking cost/commercial management as part of integrated, multi-organisation, collaborative teams.
- Experience of working within a client organization, either directly or through a colocation/secondment arrangement would be of benefit.
- Ability to identify and influence key client stakeholders, building effective relationships to grow workload/portfolio.
To support this commitment, all newly hired employees are required to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment.
