Due to the continued growth and expansion of our Nuclear Power & Decommissioning Team, we want to enhance our technical capabilities by recruiting an experienced Associate Structural Engineer. You will have the vision, passion and track record required to continue the growth of our structural engineering offering, undertaking a business development role as well as engineering design role.
You will lead the continued development of a strong team to whom you will provide leadership and robust management. In this high‑profile position, you will be the first point of direct contact with clients, partners and contractors. In this role, there will be opportunities to establish new processes and procedures or enhance existing ones, ensuring continuous improvement in our operations. Part of the responsibilities includes preparing and delivering technical presentations, showcasing our expertise and progress. Additionally, the role involves carrying out peer reviews of both internal and external technical submissions, ensuring the highest standards of quality and accuracy. Travel to various sites will also be a key aspect of the job, enabling direct engagement and oversight of ongoing projects and initiatives.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Presently involved in a position with a substantial emphasis on design activities.
- Substantial experience in post‑Chartership positions, leveraging engineering knowledge in relevant practices, techniques and procedures as a crucial component.
- Experienced in the Nuclear Sector, encompassing both new construction and decommissioning projects.
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills and the ability to provide strategic direction, drawing on extensive project experience to guide and influence project and programme outcomes.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery, with experience in guiding other professional engineers in defining, executing and completing engineering work packages.
- Skilled in seismic/numerical modeling, including proficiency in finite element analysis and soil/structure as well as structure/soil/structure interaction, enabling leadership in this domain.
- Familiar with European and American Standards, with practical knowledge for effective application in projects.

Qualifications Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Relevant Engineering Degree: Structural Engineering Degree, or equivalent, at Masters or PhD level.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with MInstructE or equivalent institute.
- Demonstrable experience in leading others and developing team members.
- Demonstrable expertise with a track record of application of structural engineering knowledge and skills in the nuclear sector or a similar regulated industry.
- Demonstrable record of successful delivery, including positions influencing other professional engineers in the definition, implementation and delivery of engineering work packages.
- Ability to provide strategic guidance based on knowledge and experience of projects across a portfolio to inform and direct projects and programmes.
- Ability to provide leadership and undertake business development in a key area within an engineering function including acting as a custodian of resource and expertise.
You will also be self‑motivated with an ability to work both autonomously where required, with a strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline‑driven team environment.
