AECOM is currently seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer specialized in Fire Fighting Systems design to be based in our St. Albans, London Aldgate, Manchester or Croydon office. This is a consultancy based position so you will need experience within this kind of design and client focused environment. Your role will require you to design, calculate and propose fire safety solutions to clients on small and large scale projects whilst acting as a key point of contact and expertise. You will also be involved in surveys, reports and the day to day project management of our secured programmes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare design packages for various RIBA stages, including Design drawings, Technical specifications, Design reports and Hydraulic calculations.
- Prepare Fire Suppression Systems solutions for various building and industrial applications, types and at various stages of project design.
- Perform calculations as assigned such as sprinkler system water supplies and gas suppression clean agent quantities.
- Lead remote project delivery teams.
- Prepare fee proposals for the Fire systems design at RIBA Stages 1-7.
- Conduct Technical reviews.
- Assist technically in the resolution of design problems that may include performing field investigations or inspections.
- Effectively communicate with project team members, Clients, local approving authorities, contractors and other third parties as required.
- Project Manage the delivery of various scale projects small and large.
Minimum Requirements
- Possess intermediate-level written and oral communication skills.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business.
- Knowledge of British and International design standards and Building regulations is essential.
- Knowledge and experience of Fire Suppression Systems such as: Automatic Sprinkler Systems (Wet, Dry, Pre-action, Foam etc.), Water Mist Systems, Gaseous Suppression Systems, Wet and Dry Rise Systems, Fire Hydrant and Hose Reel Systems, Hypoxic (Oxygen Reduction) Systems.
- Good knowledge of software packages for Fire Suppression Systems design (Word; Excel: CAD; REVIT; Hydraulics software).
Qualifications
- A clear work history and proof of professional development and learning.
- Registered with Engineering Council (CEng; IEng) or working towards achieving it.
