Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Structural BIM Technician to lead and deliver high-quality BIM solutions for structural projects. This role requires a motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong technical, communication, and collaboration skills. You will play a key part in developing, managing, coordinating BIM models and producing technical structural drawings and data across a diverse portfolio, including stadia, healthcare, aviation, commercial, residential, and heritage sectors. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and ensure compliance with AECOM and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or support the development, Set up and management of data-rich BIM models for design documentation and coordination, ensuring accuracy for scheduling and high-quality detailing.
  • Review, Understand and Implement BIM documentation (BEP, MPDT, EIR, etc.), ensuring alignment with AECOM standards and identifying potential risks.
  • Manage and control the exchange of models and drawings using project extranets and CDEs.
  • Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, and other stakeholders, participating in BIM kick-off and coordination meetings.
  • Support or contribute to clash detection workshops and coordination processes.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities using tools such as Dynamo, Python, Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit add-ins or AI solutions.
  • Maintain accountability for project deliverables, ensuring quality assurance (QA/QC) through self-checks and best practices.
  • Mentor and support junior staff as required.
  • Experience of acting as discipline BIM Coordinator or Modeller on projects with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to implement Project Standards, BIM Execution Plans/ industry standards with minimal support.
  • Extensive experience in multi-discipline design development and technical documentation and ability to prepare models, drawings and details fit for purpose.
  • Expertise in Revit (primary), with knowledge in Navisworks and Autodesk Forma (Formerly ACC).
  • Basic understanding of UK BIM Framework, ISO 19650, PAS 1192, Eurocodes, British Standards, and relevant international regulations.
  • Familiarity with BIM data standards, including COBie, Uniclass 2015, NRM, and IFC.
  • Ability to interpret construction methods and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, analytical, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines, and maintain high-quality outputs.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines and regions.
  • Structures discipline specific experience.
