As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and collaborative
Discipline Director for Technical Delivery to lead the technical delivery, resourcing, and operational effectiveness of our ASSIST team.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for ensuring the successful delivery of complex projects, developing our technical capability, and driving excellence across our survey and site investigation services.
Working closely with discipline leads, project teams, and business leaders, you will play a critical role in maintaining technical quality, supporting growth, engaging with our clients and developing our people.
Here’s what you’ll do
- Champion AECOM's safety-first culture across all technical disciplines.
- Ensure appropriate safety training plans are developed and maintained for all team members.
- Promote safe working practices and continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
- Project & Technical Delivery
- Lead the resourcing and technical delivery of multidisciplinary projects across the ASSIST business.
- Be the primary escalation point for resourcing challenges and delivery/ quality issues associated with the technical survey and investigation disciplines.
- Ensure technical quality standards are achieved across all disciplines.
- Undertake Lead Verifier responsibilities where appropriate.
- Resolve resource conflicts and capacity constraints, escalating where necessary to senior leadership teams.
- Work Winning & Client Engagement
- Support the successful delivery of multidisciplinary bids and proposals.
- Coordinate and appoint technical staff to support bid development activities.
- Review technical solutions, cost build-ups, and bid submissions to ensure quality and competitiveness.
- Support and drive internal and external client engagement activities to strengthen relationships and grow opportunities.
- People Leadership & Capability Development
- Develop and implement resource strategies, including recruitment, use of enterprise capabilities, and subcontractor engagement.
- Lead workforce planning to ensure the right skills and capacity are available to support business demands, manage and maintain training needs and qualifications.
- Ensure career development pathways and training plans are established and maintained across all disciplines.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
- Operational Excellence
- Lead the development of business cases for new equipment, technology, and digital investments.
- Drive adoption of enterprise capability resources and innovative delivery approaches.
- Monitor team capacity and work load, identifying risks and opportunities for workshare and report them to the ASSIST Director.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality, and client outcomes.

- Ability to manage competing priorities and resolve resource challenges across multiple projects.
- Firsthand experience in survey and site investigation delivery.
- Familiarity with digital innovation, technology investment, and operational improvement programmes.
