As a Senior Project Manager within AECOM’s London Healthcare Project Management Team, you will be responsible for leading and managing medium to large-scale built environment and construction projects from initiation to completion, ensuring their successful delivery while continuing to develop your specialised knowledge. Your role will involve overseeing significant phases of projects, guiding junior team members, and fostering client and consultant relationships. Additionally, you will support business development activities and contribute to AECOM's team and organisational growth.
You will join our London Healthcare Project Management team, which forms a key part of our Social Infrastructure global market sector. We are looking for someone who brings energy and insight, ideally with consultancy experience or a background working within a healthcare client organisation. Depending on the specific requirements of each project, the role may require you to be based on site- and you will need to be prepared to travel to project locations within London and the Southeast.
Lead and Deliver:Drive project delivery on our project management commissions to meet time, budget, and quality requirements, while fostering collaboration among clients, consultants, contractors, and team members. Examples of duties include:
- Lead the delivery of project management team outputs
- Lead internal AECOM Project Team Meetings and external project meetings
- Co‑ordinate, review and ensure sign‑off of deliverables
- Lead the management of design teams
- Lead the management of tender documents, appraisals and negotiations
- Lead the formulation and management of construction contracts
- Provide financial oversight, resource management, strategic guidance/audit & review
Strengthen client relationships by delivering an exceptional service, aligning project outcomes with client objectives and contributing to the business’ growth. Examples of duties include:
- Lead the development of strong relationships with clients
- Be the main interface with AECOM clients
- Progress business development opportunities with existing and new clients
- Support ‘winning’ clients, ensuring quality outputs and professional behaviours
Mentor and support junior members of our team in their career development, contribute to talent development initiatives and champion a positive, high performance team culture. Examples of duties include:
- Provide effective support, supervision and motivation of Project Managers and junior staff
- Ensure staff have current and relevant training
- Provide leadership within the project management business
- Provide leadership and mentoring to the healthcare team
- Support Project Managers through Professional Chartership
- Active involvement in recruitment and retention activities
- Ensure you complete all relevant training
Support bids and business development activities, engage with industry forums and networking events, and take ownership of your professional growth and knowledge-sharing within the organisation. Examples of duties include:
- Progress business development opportunities
- Support ‘winning’ clients as part of business development
- Engagement in recruitment (scope candidates, review candidates, interview & provide recommendations)
- Formulate fee proposals

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:- Proven experience delivering projects within the Healthcare sector
- Experience working within a consultancy or healthcare organisation
- NEC Accredited or as a minimum experience in administering NEC Contracts
- Experience and technical knowledge of healthcare within the built environment or construction industry.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, workstreams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrates confident and engaging presentation skills, effectively delivering complex information to large and diverse audiences.
- Strong written skills including producing reports, meeting notes, drafting clear actions, project execution plans and risk registers and mitigation strategies
- Demonstrate leadership potential and good client relationship management.
- Passionate about delivering high-quality consulting services, and comfortable in the role of consultant.
- Be proactive, solution-oriented and adaptable to changing circumstances
- Professional accreditation (e.g. RICS, CIOB, APM) achieved or commitment to achieve one.
- Ability to support the development of colleagues, particularly towards professional qualifications (e.g., RICS, CIOB, APM).
