Are you ready to lead a team of talented engineers and shape the future of energy infrastructure? Due to a period of exciting growth we’re looking for an ambitious energy storage focused Senior Engineer to join our UK Transmission and Distribution (T&D) business. Our T&D team delivers HV design for electrical power projects at transmission and distribution voltage levels. The focus is renewables and energy storage, grid connections, and private networks at voltage levels normally between 11kV to 400kV. Typical projects include feasibility, optioneering, FEED, detailed design and design assurance on existing or new build renewable generation, including pumped storage hydro, PV and wind – typically with collocated Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
Responsibilities
- Work on large projects and frameworks with renewable energy generation developers in the UK, Ireland, and occasional global projects.
- Undertake Front End Engineering Design (FEED), design for planning, feasibility studies, etc. of energy storage systems including associated grid connections, control and metering.
- Collaborate with internal AECOM clients delivering large renewable generation or private wire projects.
- Support and gain exposure to bidding, project and quality management.

Qualifications
- Previous experience with consultancy, contractor, equipment manufacturer or electrical utility in the energy sector.
- Suitable experience as FEED designer, detailed design or owner’s engineer role.
- Good understanding of renewable generation and energy storage technology in general and, in particular, battery storage technology of all types and chemistries.
- Experience designing the HV grid connection, metering, control requirements, etc. associated with battery storage installations, including BESS collocated with renewable energy generation.
- Knowledge of grid connection requirements for renewable generation and energy storage, including G59, G99 etc.
- Good understanding of electrical plant items and control systems such as transformers, cables, circuit breakers, HV Protection & Control.
- Good team player with a client‑focused mindset and customer‑facing skills.
- Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project management experience (incl. budget, time and quality).
- Electrical Engineering Degree.
- Experience of multi‑discipline engineering projects.
- Experience of design & site construction review.
- Knowledge of grid connection considerations advantageous for energy storage.
