Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Wastewater modeller in our rapidly growing Scotland region. In this role, you will support the delivery of high-quality wastewater modelling projects while developing your technical and professional skills within an experienced team.
AECOM has recently been named preferred bidder for one of two Primary Designers for Scottish Water’s SR27 Enterprise. This transformational, multi-billion-pound programme will reshape Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure from 2027 to 2033 (with potential extension). As part of this programme, you will contribute to impactful projects and collaborate with a talented, multidisciplinary team, gaining valuable experience across a wide range of modelling and engineering activities.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Support the delivery of wastewater modelling projects under supervision of senior engineers.
- Assist with model build, calibration, and verification using industry-standard software.
- Contribute to data analysis, reporting, and technical documentation.
- Assist in optioneering and assessment of design solutions.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, including field and design teams.
- Support Health & Safety processes, including risk assessments where required.
- Participate in project meetings and assist with progress reporting.
- Learn to work within project budgets and programme constraints.
- Develop technical skills through on-the-job learning and training.

Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Some experience or academic exposure to wastewater modelling tools such as InfoWorks ICM or similar (training will be provided).
- Understanding of basic engineering principles related to water/wastewater systems.
- Ability to analyse data and present findings clearly.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage your own workload with guidance.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn and develop technical expertise.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree or Master’s in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or a related discipline).
- Interest in developing a career in wastewater modelling.
- Basic familiarity with data analysis tools or coding (e.g. Python) is beneficial but not essential.
- Working towards (or interest in working towards) professional accreditation (e.g. ICE or CIWEM).
