Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Clean Water Modeller in one of our rapidly growing Scotland offices – whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model.

In this role, you will be one of the lead technical team members supporting the junior members of the team to deliver top‑quality projects.
AECOM has recently been named preferred bidder for one of two Primary Designers for Scottish Water’s SR27 Enterprise. This transformational, multi‑billion‑pound programme is the highest‑value venture ever put into place by Scottish Water and will reshape Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure from 2027 to 2033 (with potential to extend for another six years). AECOM will be at the heart of this ground‑breaking delivery model, shaping design excellence at scale and working with Scottish Water and our Enterprise Partners to help drive outcomes that deliver value for customers in Scotland and go beyond net zero.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Deliver output on a wide range of modelling projects including: model build & calibration; model maintenance; optioneering and growth studies.
- Collaborate with AECOM’s multi‑disciplinary teams to develop design solutions through optioneering.
- Prepare Health & Safety Risk Assessments documentation.
- Support the team to efficiently manage project workload and deadlines demand.
- Undertake a technical mentoring role for more junior members of staff.
- Produce reports and technical documents.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Experience with clean water modelling software packages such as Infoworks WS Pro or Synergi.
- Familiar with GIS software such as ArcGIS; MapInfo or QGIS.
- Understand and work within financial and programme constraints of a project.
- Ability to work to project scope and client’s modelling specifications.
- Be a self‑motivated individual with the ability to take ownership of workload.
- Experience of technically reviewing projects, providing design and optioneering input.
- Liaise with water industry, utility companies or subcontractors.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Degree or Masters in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science or related discipline.
- Proven track record with delivering hydraulic network modelling projects.
- Working towards Chartership with CIWEM, ICE or similar professional bodies.
- Experience with mentoring or managing staff.
- Experience with coding languages such Ruby or Python.
