At AECOM, we're delivering a better world. Whether improving your commute, keeping the lights on, providing access to clean water, or transforming skylines, our work helps people and communities thrive. We are the world's trusted infrastructure consulting firm, partnering with clients to solve the world’s most complex challenges and build legacies for future generations.
We are seeking a Business Architect & Org Design Lead (Associate Director level) to lead complex client engagements and help grow the Strategy+ offer in AECOM Advisory. This is a senior consulting delivery role, broadly equivalent to Manager level in a management consultancy. You will work with infrastructure, public sector and regulated‑industry clients to translate strategy into execution through operating model design, transformation, governance, organisation and performance improvement work. The role combines hands‑on problem solving, senior stakeholder management, team leadership and targeted business development.
About Strategy+
Strategy+ helps organisations solve complex system‑level challenges by turning strategy into practical, deliverable change. Our work spans capability-led operating model design, governance design, change and transformation, and performance improvement across people, process, data, technology and delivery. Current growth priorities include operating model design, change management, and performance improvement, particularly across sectors such as Energy, Water and Defence.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Lead complex consulting engagements or major workstreams from scoping through delivery, ensuring high‑quality outputs, strong project discipline and clear team accountability.
- Design and apply credible, efficient and scalable methodologies to solve client problems across operating model development, organisation design, governance, service transformation, business change and performance improvement.
- Build trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, manage expectations confidently and act as a strong day‑to‑day advisor.
- Translate complex analysis into concise, decision‑ready recommendations, roadmaps and executive‑level materials.
- Facilitate workshops and steer cross‑functional discussions to align stakeholders around priorities, trade‑offs and implementation choices.
- Bring a forward‑looking perspective to client discussions through horizon scanning, market awareness and insight into emerging client challenges.
- Coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams and connect clients with the right specialists across AECOM to create joined‑up solutions.
- Manage scope, risk, quality and commercial performance, intervening early where delivery issues emerge.
- Lead business development by identifying follow‑on opportunities, contributing to proposals and deepening relationships in priority sectors and target accounts.
- Coach consultants and senior consultants, providing clear feedback on structuring, analysis, story lining and client delivery.
- Support effective team set‑up and role allocation so that capability is aligned to client need, team development and business priorities.
If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you. Join our team, where we don't just construct infrastructure but also uplift communities and enhance lives.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Strong experience in management consulting, advisory, transformation or in‑house strategy / operational improvement roles.
- Proven ability to lead teams on complex, ambiguous problems and deliver high‑quality work to demanding timelines.
- Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to articulate complexity simply and build compelling storylines from data and analysis.
- Experience managing senior stakeholders and influencing decisions in client environments.
- Strong commercial judgement, including experience scoping work, managing delivery risk and supporting proposals or account growth.
- Experience developing target operating models, capability maps, governance structures, implementation roadmaps.
- Brings a pragmatic, hands‑on approach rather than a purely theoretical consulting mindset, with experience operating within client environments and delivering practical outcomes.
- Proven ability to develop and embed systematic ways of working, creating scalable processes that improve efficiency, consistency, and long‑term capability.
- Self‑motivated and highly driven, with a strong focus on execution and delivering results in fast‑paced, evolving environments.
- Comfortable working at pace, managing multiple priorities while maintaining high‑quality outputs and stakeholder engagement.
- Confident communicator with the credibility to influence senior stakeholders, challenge constructively, and build trusted relationships across the business.
- Strong networking and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to connect people, foster collaboration, and leverage networks to drive successful outcomes.
This is an opportunity to help shape and grow a consulting offer focused on translating strategy into practical change. You will work on high‑impact problems for major infrastructure clients, lead multi‑disciplinary teams, and play a visible role in building client relationships, capability and delivery excellence within AECOM Advisory.
