Our Airport Planning & Advisory team is based in our AECOM Basingstoke and London offices and are passionate about creating innovative, resilient, and sustainable solutions for airports of all sizes - including major commercial hubs and greenfield airports to general aviation airfields and military installations.

Each team member has a development plan to provide a clear pathway to personal development and career progression. The team provides technical solutions throughout the whole project lifecycle from master planning, feasibility, preliminary and detailed stage designs, to construction and handover. Our clients are many and varied from both the private and public sector and include airport investors, airport operators and major contractors.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Design: contribute to airport engineering projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, terminals, vehicle service roads, aeronautical ground lighting and signage installation, navigational aids, drainage improvements, utility relocation and protection, and pavement rehabilitation on a wide variety of civil and military multi-disciplinary aviation projects.
  • Produce: drawings, reports, calculations, simulations and presentations.
  • Investigate: undertake asset condition inspections on site, reporting on the condition to asset owners, that enables strategic decisions to be made on capital project planning.
  • Organise: Take ownership and demonstrate responsibility for delivery of assigned tasks in alignment with project programme and budgets.
  • Collaborate: with multi-disciplinary design teams consisting of architects, engineers and technicians across the UK and Europe. Attend client meetings and contribute to discussions with project stakeholders around designs that you have developed.
  • Assure: Undertake self-checking of deliverables and participate in the design review processes. Demonstrate a commitment to AECOM's Quality Assurance processes and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Air Transport Management or Airport Planning.
  • A solution-oriented mindset, unafraid to challenge the status quo or suggest innovative ideas.
  • A proactive attitude towards learning and professional development, showing readiness to take on new challenges and grow within the role.
  • Experience in airport master planning, terminal or airside spatial planning, capacity analysis or terminal facilities planning.
  • Knowledge of Civil Aviation regulatory and industry standards and recommended practices (ICAO, EASA, CAA, FAA, IATA).
  • Good knowledge/experience of AutoCAD and AviPlan, experience of Civil 3D, or similar is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge of airfield and terminal facility simulation and modelling.
