Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Principal Wastewater Modeller. You can be based in one of our UK or Ireland offices while also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model. You will be a key player in delivering impactful water projects across the UK and internationally, contributing to flood alleviation schemes, pollution reduction, and infrastructure projects that support continuous professional growth. Our modelling team is fully integrated with the wider project teams, ensuring close collaboration with experts in other areas.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Lead the development, calibration and verification of wastewater network models (e.g., InfoWorks ICM or similar platforms).
  • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance across multiple projects, operating under general direction while guiding wider project teams.
  • Undertake and oversee technical and administrative tasks related to hydrology and groundwater investigations where required to inform wastewater modelling studies.
  • Deliver assignments that may span the broader field of hydrology and related technical disciplines, working to defined project terms with appropriate professional review.
  • Analyse complex datasets and modelling outputs, preparing clear, high-quality technical reports and client deliverables.
  • Monitor and interpret data to assess the impacts of upstream activities on wastewater systems and the wider environment, ensuring compliance with relevant permits and regulatory conditions.
  • Act as technical lead on major frameworks and modelling programmes, supporting strategic planning, storm overflow reduction, and network resilience initiatives.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members and contribute to bids and business development activities.

Qualifications:

  • Degree (BEng/MEng or MSc) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in wastewater network modelling within a consultancy or water utility environment.
  • Strong proficiency in industry-standard modelling software (e.g., InfoWorks ICM).
  • Strong understanding of UK water industry regulations, AMP cycles, and wastewater planning frameworks.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and provide technical direction.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Chartered status (CEng) or working toward chartership is desirable.
