Are you ready to join a team of talented engineers and help shape the future of water? Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water business as a Technical Director in our Dams & Reservoirs Team. In this role, you will help support the delivery of an exceptional portfolio of dams, reservoirs, flooding and water infrastructure projects through our long‑term partnerships with key clients. Projects will include work on dams and reservoirs, water supply systems and flood risk management schemes. Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Lead: Drive the technical delivery of a range of water and infrastructure projects, managing multidisciplinary technical teams to deliver value‑added solutions to client challenges throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Manage: Oversee key packages of work from conception through to handover, interfacing with AECOM teams, clients and suppliers to create seamless technical solutions.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with clients, stakeholders and AECOM colleagues to secure buy‑in to project solutions, while also contributing to AECOM’s wider technical capability and innovative approach.
  • Develop: Perform line management duties, support the development of team members, manage their input to projects and provide mentoring.

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what is possible? Here’s what we are looking for:

  • Significant experience in a similar civil engineering, water infrastructure or project management role.
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, such as civil, mechanical or electrical engineering, and/or equivalent industry experience.
  • Chartered or incorporated status with a relevant professional institution, such as ICE, CIWEM or similar, or working towards this.
  • Clear ambition to work towards Supervising Engineer or All Reservoirs Panel Engineer status in the UK.
  • Experience in feasibility studies, options appraisal, and concept, outline and detailed design for water company clients.
  • Experience in managing teams and supporting the technical and financial delivery of projects with multidisciplinary teams.
