As an Associate Building Surveyor you will be an independent person delivering a wide variety of more complex professional and higher value contract services for public and private clients. You will also be responsible as delivery lead working with other team members and AECOM staff from other parts of the business to deliver a service. There will be a focus on client care, mentoring, team management, service delivery and business development both externally and internally within AECOM.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Lead on individual Building Surveying, Project Management, and Contract Administration commissions
  • Client development skills to develop business with existing clients and confidence to win new work
  • Prepare fee bids, mentor key team members to do the same and assist other growth managers in business development
  • Continuous improvement to our standards, processes and knowledge to deliver to our core clients
  • Mentoring and developing Graduate Building Surveyors and other team members
  • Key account client management
  • Comply with all QSE procedures
  • Establish client briefs, appropriate fees, and cost control through to completion
  • Financial, commercial and risk management from project inception through to completion on own projects
  • Conducting a portfolio of fee based activities with our key multi sector client base
  • Fully involved in or managing others for the production of drawings, specifications and tender documents
  • Survey and Report writing for the full range of typical core Building Surveying services
  • Construction monitoring and quarterly snagging assessments

Qualifications

Ready to push the limits of what’s possible? Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Experience of working with and building relationships with fellow professionals and Clients.
  • Previous management of sub consultants and contractors.
  • Strong JCT contract administration.
  • Ability to travel for short periods for work delivery.
  • Act as a mentor for team members.
  • Chartered Building Surveyor (RICS or MIOB) with at least 3 years post qualification experience or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in all core Building Surveying work areas especially condition surveys, feasibility reports, design and contract administration/project management.
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent client and team interpersonal skills.

Preferred Experience/ Qualifications:

  • Previously managed and/or been involved in asset surveys on larger survey programmes, working with various technology packages to meet client requirements.
  • Financially manages a number of projects, taking responsibility for all aspects of financial management, including invoicing clients.
  • Defence sector experience would be advantageous but not essential.
