Our Water team is on the lookout for a passionate Coastal Modeller to join our dynamic and rapidly growing Water Business Line.

This is your chance to help deliver high profile, influential projects across the UK and beyond while working at the heart of one of the UK’s most ambitious engineering hubs.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in shaping resilient, future proof solutions for communities, infrastructure and the environment.

Here’s what you’ll do

  • Assist in undertaking modelling studies for a range of projects, from feasibility/option appraisal through to detailed design.
  • Work collaboratively with other disciplines to support the delivery of modelling studies.
  • Contribute to the development, setup and application of numerical models.
  • Support senior team members in project delivery, including data analysis and reporting.
  • Assist in ensuring tasks are delivered to agreed budgets, programmes and quality standards.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and project documentation.
  • Liaise with internal teams and, where appropriate, support communication with clients and stakeholders.

Continue developing technical skills and knowledge within the coastal modelling field.

Here’s what we’re looking for

  • Degree (or Masters) in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Marine Science, Oceanography or similar.
  • Working towards chartership with an appropriate institution (e. g. IMar EST or CIWEM).
  • Some experience working on Coastal, Ports or Water projects (through industry or academia), with developing technical capability.

• Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following

  • Model development and application using MIKE by DHI and/or Delft3D software.
  • Metocean data analysis using MATLAB / Python.
  • Near‑field mixing studies using CORMIX.
  • Joint probability methods (using EA/Defra guidance).
  • Multivariate analysis.
  • Overtopping assessments (using the Eur Otop Manual).
  • Beach design (using XBeach, Shingle-B).

You will also be self‑motivated with an ability to work both autonomously where required, with a strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven team environment.
