As an Associate Director in the Midlands Transport Planning team, you will lead and deliver transport projects, drive client engagement, develop business opportunities, and mentor a high‑performing team. You will be responsible for strategic leadership, client and stakeholder engagement, project delivery, business development, and team development.
- Lead strategic initiatives to grow the transport planning practice.
- Build relationships with public sector agencies, private developers, and infrastructure operators; provide strategic advice and represent AECOM at meetings and events.
- Oversee the delivery of complex transport planning projects, ensuring quality, budget, and timeline requirements; provide technical oversight and risk management.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities; prepare bids and proposals aligned with client needs and AECOM’s priorities.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team; promote diversity and inclusion.
You will support the delivery of national and regional transport projects such as the National Highways Monitoring and Evaluation Framework, Birmingham City Council Professional Services Framework, and Transport for Wales Framework.
Qualifications
- Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or related field.
- Chartered status with CIHT, TPS, or similar.
- Extensive experience in transport planning (appraisal, business case development, monitoring/evaluation) with a proven track record of winning work.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results.
- Comprehensive knowledge of UK&I transport planning principles, policies, and regulations.
- Expertise in transport appraisal and business case development.
- Ability to interface with modelling and design teams.
- Proficiency with common transport planning tools and software.
