AECOM are looking for Electrical Engineers with varying areas of expertise / experience to join our rapidly expanding renewable energy team. Successful candidates will be deployed to work predominately on solar PV projects; however, they will have the opportunity to work on different projects providing electrical support for the following types of technologies:

  • Onshore and offshore wind
  • Hydroelectric – run of river and pumped storage
  • Hydrogen production and storage
  • Battery energy storage systems (BESS)

The successful candidate(s) will join our project teams to deliver a range of feasibility, design, and technical advisory roles. Working on a range of commercial-scale rooftop, carport, floating and ground mount solar PV projects including design services for some of the largest NSIP scale solar PV projects in the UK as well as projects across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), some of which will also include energy storage.

Key responsibilities:

  • Designing solar PV systems using PVSol, PVSyst, PVCase or other PV design software.
  • Responsible for reviewing EPC contractor electrical designs for solar PV, wind, BESS, and wind projects to ensure compliance with Employer’s Requirements, local regulations, grid codes, and applicable industry standards.
  • Assessing HV/LV system designs, single line diagrams, protection and control schemes, cable sizing and routing, earthing and lightning protection, and substation interfaces.
  • Support projects by providing design layout, system specification, cost estimates and technical reports.
  • Conducting technical site surveys (nationwide).
  • Attend client meetings and build rapport to coordinate and develop solutions.
  • Support the commercial team in the preparation of technical submission documents and tenders, from a technical perspective.
  • Uphold a robust health and safety culture across the company.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of the latest Electrical Codes.
  • Engineering technical excellence and pride in work and project outcomes.
  • Application of BS 7671 wiring regulation and IET CoP for solar PV installations.

We develop projects from concept through operation providing engineering and construction services for multiyear, multimillion-dollar projects for major rail and transit agencies. Our specialists provide analytical and strategic expertise for every stage of a project.

Qualifications:

  • BEng/MEng Electrical Engineering Degree
  • Driver’s license to enable access to remote sites
  • Proven track record and experience in the design, specification or construction of renewable energy projects as a consultant or EPC contractor.
  • Ability to produce formal reports and documents.
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently, diligent and with an eye for detail.
  • Looking to achieve a chartership in their chosen institute.
  • Knowledge of LV and HV electrical system design from feasibility through to detailed design, including preparation or review of single line diagrams, schematics and general arrangement drawings.
  • Familiarity with relevant IEC and national standards, design codes and grid compliance requirements.
  • Awareness of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) and/or Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act.
  • Experience with CAD software packages, and ability to produce detailed AUTOCAD drawings including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and site layouts.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including high proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
