At AECOM, we are currently recruiting for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Belfast office. This role will lead the delivery of complex, high‑profile projects across the residential, healthcare, education, and infrastructure sectors. You will be responsible for providing technical leadership, overseeing project teams, ensuring quality and compliance, and mentoring junior engineers. You will also play a key role in client engagement and contribute to the strategic growth of our structural engineering practice in Ireland.
We work across a diverse range of sectors, including healthcare, data centres, commercial, hospitality, education, and civic projects, delivering innovative solutions for both public and private clients.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and deliver the technical aspects of projects or designated work packages, ensuring high‑quality outcomes.
- Manage the end‑to‑end technical delivery of projects, from interpreting client briefs to coordinating designs across multidisciplinary teams.
- Oversee and support engineers and technicians, ensuring deliverables are aligned with project schedules and performance expectations.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across the business.
- Ensure all designs and project outputs comply with health and safety standards, as well as company quality assurance processes and procedures.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth and career progression within the organisation.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership) with a recognised professional body such as ICE or IStructE.
- Proven experience delivering structural engineering projects, including managing technical design and coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong leadership skills with experience overseeing engineers and technicians to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with senior stakeholders and build effective professional relationships.
- In‑depth knowledge of relevant design standards, health and safety regulations, and quality assurance processes.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior team members.
- Proficiency in industry‑standard structural analysis and design software.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
