Our client is recruiting for a permanent Skills Trainer in Tonbridge, Kent to manage in-house delivery sessions to groups of learners to deliver a range of core courses to support Participants develop Employability and Personal Social Development skills to move them nearer to the local labour market. They focus on delivering sessions to learners identified with Basic Skills needs and help them to overcome barriers and assist with their progressions into sustainable employment. Their Tutors provide their learners with advice on how to maximise their ability and learning skills with the aim of making a positive impact on their learner's lives. As an organisation they deliver a range of Employability & Health contracts which support unemployed people 'back to work'. This job role forms part of their Restart Scheme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivering training; assessing against relevant criteria, developing, and delivering virtual and face-to-face Participant group sessions evaluating outcomes; providing follow-up support to Learners; administration and continuous improvement of training.
  • Deliver a range of core courses to support Participants develop Employability and Personal Social Development skills to move them nearer to the local labour market.
  • Follow lesson plans and activity guidance provided.
  • Deliver course inductions as required.
  • Carry out group training sessions in classroom-based and virtual environments.
  • Change delivery style and medium to suit the audience, including those with learning disabilities and limited English literacy.
  • Recommend follow up activities or additional training to the Participant's Dedicated Advisor.
  • Assess individual Participant ability and support needs through a range of assessment mechanisms, including observational assessment, feeding back to their Dedicated Advisor to support barrier removal and action planning.
  • Support the hardest to help Participants, including those with motivational issues, to complete their training and gain the key skills required to find work.
  • Support Local Recruitment Consultant with group recruitment processes, for example, screening sessions and mock interview preparation etc.
  • Maintain and update own knowledge of local and national employment trends.
  • Maintaining resources to meet Learner needs.
  • Develop and deliver innovative, engaging, and motivating training sessions to Participants with the objective of helping them to secure sustainable work.

Requirements

Education & Training

  • A recognised teaching/training qualification or studying for one (City and Guilds 7407 or 7304, PTLLS/CTLLS/DTLLS/Level 3 Award in Education)
  • GCSE English Language at a minimum of a Grade B (or equivalent Level 2 qualification)

  • Ability to design and deliver innovative, engaging, and motivating training sessions.
  • Ability to assess Participants' ability and support their needs through a range of mechanisms, including observation and feedback.
  • Ability to be flexible and mobile to cover a geographical area.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective and positive relationships - both with Participants and colleagues.
  • Ability to adapt delivery style and medium to suit the audience.
  • A passion to motivate and build confidence in Participants.
