A&E Fire & Security is looking for a full-time Engineer to join our friendly team. We are based in Cheltenham, covering the South West, Midlands, South and London region of the UK. The company has been at the forefront of fire and security systems for over 60 years and continues to grow. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineer to join one of the UK’s leading Fire & Security Protection Companies. This is a Permanent position, Monday to Friday 39 hours per week. We will provide you with a company vehicle, company mobile phone, company pension and a bonus scheme alongside a competitive salary, and there are also further opportunities for overtime available through call-outs and work outside our normal working hours.
Responsibilities
- Installation of cabling and associated equipment
- Installation and commissioning of Intruder Alarms, Access Control and CCTV systems
- Fault finding and problem solving across electrical and networked/IP systems
- Providing clear communication and professional service to customers on site
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and professional working approach at all times
- Servicing, repairs and fault resolution of systems
- Interpreting building plans and producing as installed drawings and zone plans
- Identifying and reporting system deficiencies or required improvements
- Completing all documentation and NSI certification accurately and on time
- Planning and managing workloads effectively
- Producing quotations for small works when required
- Supporting and mentoring trainees
- Adhering to Health & Safety requirements at all times
- Maintaining company vehicle, tools and equipment
- Participation in the 24 hour on-call rota
- Promoting A&E Fire & Security services to customers where appropriate
Skills and Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong electrical knowledge
- Ability to pass DBS and security screening
- Relevant apprenticeship or equivalent qualification preferred
- Competent in the use of hand and power tools
- Physically able to carry equipment and work at height (ladders/steps)
- Strong attention to detail and problem solving ability
- Good communication and customer-facing skills
