Advocate is a national charity providing access to justice to those who cannot afford it. We match barristers who donate their time and expertise to give free legal help to people in need. We now partner with over 5,000 volunteer barristers and manage circa 6,000 applications for our help across all courts and tribunals in England and Wales.

Having increased the scope and reach of our service to meet demand, underpinned by income growth and technology investments, we are now looking for a CEO ready to move our new 2026 strategy forward. This will feature developing more efficient processes for our barristers and clients, using technology effectively to help more clients, and growing our voice as an evidence‑backed leader in the wider conversation around access to justice. Collectively this will grow our organisational impact, resilience and profile.

We are looking for a strategic, ambitious leader with proven experience of leadership, engagement, strategy development and delivery. You will be capable of nurturing strategic partnerships across the Bar, access to justice space and government, leveraging technology for organisational impact and enabling a small national team to deliver. You should be able to demonstrate awareness of the legal and charity operating landscapes coupled with an enthusiasm for working alongside your colleagues to ensure Advocate remains effective and agile in our legal services and advocacy work.

We welcome people of all backgrounds and experience who meet this brief and are able to work strategically and effectively in the environment in which we operate. Conversations about reasonable adjustments are welcome.

This is a full‑time, hybrid position based three days per week at our Central London offices. The closing date for applications is midday on Friday, 15 May.
