The Advocate Group are proud to be exclusively partnering with Monster Energy to appoint a Senior Director Technical & Regulatory Affairs – one of the most influential leadership positions within the EMEA business. This is not a traditional Regulatory Affairs role, nor is it purely a Technical Commercialisation position. This is a unique opportunity to lead both functions as one integrated capability, shaping how one of the world's most recognisable beverage brands innovates, commercialises and operates across 45 EMEA markets.

Reporting directly to the VP of NPD EMEA and sitting on the Leadership Team, you will play a critical role in determining how Monster responds to regulatory change, scales innovation and protects future growth across an increasingly complex global landscape.

Why this role matters

Monster Energy continues to grow across EMEA, operating in more than 45 countries and delivering products into some of the world's most diverse and challenging regulatory environments. As regulations evolve, ingredients come under greater scrutiny and market complexity increases, the business has created a brand-new leadership position to bring Technical Commercialisation and Regulatory Affairs together under one strategic vision. The successful individual will lead the teams responsible for ensuring products are not only compliant, but commercially viable, technically executable and capable of being scaled successfully across the manufacturing network.

This is a role for someone who can connect the dots - someone who can translate regulatory ambiguity into commercial action. Someone who understands formulation, manufacturing, compliance and external advocacy and can bring them together to drive business performance.

The Opportunity

  • Provide strategic leadership across both Regulatory Affairs and Technical Commercialisation functions throughout EMEA.
  • Act as a key member of the EMEA NPD Leadership Team, influencing business priorities, strategy and decision-making.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary organisation spanning multiple countries, including a leadership team of Directors and their wider functions.
  • Own the end-to-end technical and regulatory agenda, ensuring consistency, accountability and operational excellence.
  • Lead regulatory horizon scanning, identifying emerging risks and opportunities before they impact the business.
  • Translate regulatory developments into clear business actions across formulation, ingredients, artwork, labelling and market access.
  • Represent Monster externally with regulators, industry bodies and key stakeholders, helping shape future regulatory frameworks.
  • Drive technical commercialisation activities including formulation scale-up, manufacturing readiness, technical transfer and production support.
  • Partner closely with Corporate R&D, Legal, Quality, Operations and Supply Chain teams across the organisation.
  • Ensure products are designed, manufactured and launched compliantly across diverse regional markets.
  • Develop high-performing teams, leadership capability and succession strength across the function.
  • Drive continuous improvement, governance, performance management and technical excellence across the organisation.

What we're looking for

  • We're seeking an experienced FMCG leader who combines deep technical credibility with exceptional strategic and commercial judgement.
  • Significant leadership experience spanning both Regulatory Affairs and Technical Commercialisation.
  • Strong beverage industry experience, with food and adjacent FMCG backgrounds also considered.
  • Deep understanding of formulation systems, ingredient functionality and product commercialisation.
  • Experience leading regulatory strategy across complex international markets.
  • A proven track record of managing reformulation programmes driven by regulatory change.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing environments, technical transfer and scale-up activities.
  • Experience engaging with regulatory authorities, industry groups and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to balance compliance, speed, cost, performance and business risk when making decisions.
  • Experience building, developing and leading geographically dispersed teams.
  • The confidence to influence senior stakeholders and make difficult decisions in complex environments.
