The Opportunity: As People & Culture Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the HR function, ensuring employees have a smooth and positive experience across their entire lifecycle. This is a broad, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be involved in everything from onboarding and employee support through to data reporting and process improvement. You’ll also be part of a wider journey, supporting the transition towards a more digital, insight-led People function, where data and systems play a bigger role in decision-making. It’s an ideal opportunity for someone early in their HR career who wants to learn, develop, and grow within a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate onboarding and inductions, ensuring a smooth first-day experience
  • Manage employee lifecycle administration, including leavers and contract updates
  • Track and report on absence, supporting accurate record keeping and insights
  • Support payroll queries and time & attendance checks
  • Maintain accurate employee data and produce HR reports
  • Administer employee benefits and support wellbeing initiatives
  • Coordinate occupational health processes and compliance requirements
  • Support recruitment activity, including interview coordination and candidate communication
  • Act as a first point of contact for employee queries, providing clear and timely support
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and ways of working

About You / Requirements:

  • Some experience within HR, administration, or a people-focused role
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with data and documentation
  • Confident handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Comfortable using systems and working with data/reporting
  • Clear communicator, able to build relationships across the business
  • Proactive mindset, someone who looks to improve things, not just maintain them
  • Genuine interest in developing a career within HR / People & Culture
  • A HR related Degree or CIPD qualification is desirable
