The Role

As a Global Category Manager – Base Film, you will lead the procurement strategy for base film packaging, managing a £44M spend. This role requires strategic vision, strong supplier management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple business functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a 2-3 year sourcing strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders (R&D, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Engineering).
  • Manage supplier relationships to drive cost savings, innovation, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Lead global procurement processes to ensure efficiency, compliance, and risk mitigation.
  • Oversee supplier evaluations and negotiate global agreements in collaboration with regional procurement teams.
  • Identify and implement cost-modelling strategies, improving pricing structures and supplier performance.
  • Develop a sustainability roadmap aligned with corporate environmental goals, including recyclable and carbon-neutral packaging solutions.
  • Monitor commodity markets and define procurement strategies accordingly.
  • Ensure supply continuity by anticipating market trends and implementing risk-mitigation plans.

About You

Essential:

  • Experience in direct procurement within FMCG.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work in a complex, multicultural environment and manage ambiguity.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills.
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent in English (additional language skills beneficial).
