Purpose of role

To provide specialist Statutory Advocacy to local residents across Lancashire. This includes promoting self‑advocacy and empowerment, enabling service users to make informed decisions and have their views heard in matters relating to mental health and/or care and support needs within health and social care. The work will involve one‑to‑one advocacy and other models of advocacy as required, and will include working with people of all ages, including those with learning disabilities, mental health needs, physical and sensory impairments, older people and people without capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver statutory advocacy services to residents in the defined geographic area;
  • Advise and support service users in understanding and exercising their rights;
  • Assist individuals in accessing appropriate care and support services;
  • Collaborate with local agencies, health and social care providers to ensure user views are considered;
  • Document advocacy activities and maintain accurate records;
  • Participate in reporting and monitoring activities in line with organisational policies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in advocacy, social work, health or social care settings;
  • Understanding of statutory frameworks relating to mental health and care support;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Commitment to the organisation’s values of inclusivity and service excellence.
