We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Finance Assistant to support the effective running of our finance operations at Advice Direct Scotland. Advice Direct Scotland (ADS) is Scotland’s national advice service, providing free, practical, and impartial advice to people across Scotland on issues including consumer rights, energy, debt, housing, and more. Our mission is simple: to ensure that everyone in Scotland has access to the support they need, when they need it.
We are a modern, digital-first, omni-channel organisation, delivering services through telephone, webchat, email, SMS, social media, digital tools and face to face, ensuring we reach people in the way that works best for them.
As a Finance Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation. You will be responsible for processing transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting invoicing and reconciliations, and ensuring all financial data is handled in a timely and compliant manner.
Working closely with the wider finance team, you will help ensure that all financial processes are efficient, auditable, and aligned to organisational policies — enabling the organisation to operate effectively and continue delivering vital support services across Scotland.
What You Need to Succeed
- Educated to SCQF Level 4–5/ National 4/5, Standard Grades, including English and Maths or equivalent experience in a similar or related role.
- You will ideally bring some exposure to finance processes or accounts administration.
- You will have strong organisational and numerical skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
- You will be able to demonstrate your confidence in using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- A familiarity with invoice processing, supplier administration, or reconciliation support would be advantageous.
- You will also have strong written and verbal communication skills, take a proactive and reliable approach, and have a professional manner at all times.
- A high level of confidentiality and integrity is key, as is the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
